1. THE POWER OF SHAME Dear Reader Eight years ago, a miracle happened. I opened my computer and wrote a book. In 3 weeks. I wrote it in a language that wasn’t mine. I created art for it, designed a cover, started a publishing agency – because why not -, and published The Wonderfully Weird Woman’s Manual, How to Thrive & Bloom when you’re Fiercely Bright, Feel too Much, and Have Way too Many Passions
Less than 48 hours later, 1200 people had bought my book. Many women–and quite a lot of men -. My book was being passed around by family members and friends: “Read this! This is a manual about me. It will help you understand who I am.”
I received wonderful reviews and emails from women who told me they cried and laughed all throughout the book. “I’m Wonderfully Weird! Not a fluke. Not a failure. I’m just wonderfully weird.“ Wonderfully Weird became a hero’s name. I started a club, people signed up, and there were t-shirts, bags, and buttons. Yay! Gigantic success. Well done me!!! And then something mind blowing happened. I experienced deep mind-gutting shame. Watch the video for what happened next
2. THE POWER OF ANGER Do you know Lynn Coleman? You should, because she is amazing. She’s one of us. Fiercely bright, deeply caring and a true alchemist who helps her clients transform feelings and ideas into words.
Go to the Lynn’s podcast here So Lynn is exploring power in her podcast, and we had a conversation about anger. You see, I have been told to supress my anger so often that it felt like I was imploding and exploding at the same time! Women are not supposed to be angry. But anger can be amazing, we’ve got access to this inner vulcano. It’s in our belly, like fired up will. If you have given birth you know what it feels like. If you have ever stood up for someone or something, you know what empowered anger feels like. ✔︎ Listen to the Power of Anger on Apple ✔︎ Listen to the Power of Anger on Spotify Make sure to sign up for Lynn’s podcast. Art of the week Shame and Anger
TRIGGER WARNING This week’s art can be triggering, because it’s about rape and violence. Take care of yourself first if needed. * * * * * *
The art of the week is Susanna and the Elders circa 1610 by Artemisia Gentileschi 8 July 1593 – c. 1656 “Susanna and the Elders” was a well-known story that was often portraited in 16th and 17th century art. Susanna had gone out to the garden one day to bathe. Two older man were hiding in the garden and demanded sexual favors from her, which she refused.
As some men do, they threatened to ruin her reputation, but Susanna held fast. The two elders then falsely accused Susanna of adultery – a crime punishable by death.
When Daniel, a wise young Hebrew man, questioned them separately, details in the two elders’ stories did not match. Their conflicting stories revealed the falsehood of their testimony and cleared Susanna’s name.
Susanna exemplified the virtues of modesty and fidelity (which raises an entire new discussion) But it was a way for artists to display their skill in the depiction of the female nude. Often for the pleasure of their male patrons. The female body seen through the male gaze
Ever wondered why there are so many paintings of Greek goddesses frolicking around? Well, there you go. Okay, I digress.
Back to Susanna.
Specifically, this Susanna painted by a woman, a girl actually, barely 17 years old. Instead of painting the elders in the back of the painting, hiding behind a bush, she paints them up and close. In a triangle with Susanna. (I draw the triangle for you) This is not spying. They are looming over her. This is what harassing feels like. Eerily recognizable for almost every woman.
Susanna and the Elders is not a tiny painting. It’s 170 centimeters high. Thas means that the onlooker becomes almost complicit.
It wants you to make a choice. How does this make me feel? Angry? Ashamed? Turned on? Small?
One year later, a fellow artist raped Artemisia. The mind-blowing fact is that we know everything about her rape. Who was there, who helped (nobody) what happened next? It’s enough for an entire Gazette. But for now, just imagine what that must have felt like.
We have an artist who is also a rape survivor; she knows the feelings of shame, fear, and humiliation and still had the audacity to paint what she feels.
Between 1640 and 1620, Gentileschi works on her painting of Judith Slaying Holofernes, 1614–1620 This painting is almost 2 meters wide and over 160 centimeters high.
The look on Judith’s face is determined. She’s not even angry. The job needs to get done, and the man refuses to lie still. He has become the object seen through the female gaze. Does it feel like revenge to you?
Your Turn: Weekly Art Assignment Use color to release or work through Anger and Shame
What does shame feel to you? Give yourself a couple of breaths to sense it. For instance: shame makes me feel small. Like being kicked in the gut. It makes me feel nauseous. What color is it? Get a pencil, paint, or marker in that color and try to remember a moment where you experienced deep shame. For instance: I discovered I had no money left and my card was rejected. Now, explore that feeling. Get your ‘shame color’ and allow your hand to move wherever it wants to move and draw what it wants to draw. Breathe (a lot), sigh, make sounds! The color and the movement will release the tension, pain and fears behind the shame.
Next do the same for anger. In the podcast, we discuss the different anger types. Suggestion: listen to it, while using your anger colors.
It all started with a book: The Wonderfully Weird Woman’s Manual And it’s your turn. Start here and let the magic unfold itself

Meet Esther In 2016, I wrote The Wonderfully Weird Woman’s Manual. That book changed everything. It was the start of an international business with amazing clients. Yes, I worked with Fortune 500 companies, famous museums, and art institutes, but the 4.000 wonderfully weird women entrepreneurs I have worked with have inspired me the most. I’m known as the Branding Queen, a Marketing Strategy Miracle Extraordinaire, an Energy shifter, founder of the Wonderfully Weird World and the Real You Sisterhood, art historian, bestselling author, a Whisperer of Souls and I’m late diagnosed ADHD and autistic. See? Being wonderfully weird means that you can embrace all of you.
“You are enough. Just as you are. Everything going on in your life, business, heart, body, and soul, everything you are doing, all the feelings and emotions, wherever you are – right now – is enough. It’s perfect. Because YOU are perfection.”

Susanne Höhne I did the test and found out that I am a great mix between local hero and visionary dreamer. I implemented the tips for this business type and it worked great. So I did my first outsourcing projects to concentrate more on marketing than creating new stuff (which I love to do all the time) and Voilà: immediately I reached more sells than ever before. Yeah! 💃

Maria Jurimea In 1 year I have moved more than in the 15 years before. I was very modest with my pricing, but Esther told me to double or triple my prices.
I thought: "That is crazy. No one will buy at those prices." But my international sales keep coming. This has given me so much self confidence.
