How do I get focus?

Very dear Scatterbrained Soulful Women

I hope you don’t mind me calling you a scatterbrain – it takes one to recognize one -.

The reason is this question I received:

“At this moment my biggest problem is having too many ideas.

I’m not able to choose or finish the best of them.

I don’t know which one is the best. I like ‘m all!

Do you have a solution?”

If you’re a Wavemaker you know this problem. But most Acrobat’s will recognize the ‘Too Many Ideas’ problem as well.  (Don’t know what that means? Take my Creative Style Test and find out)

[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

So is there a smart solution?[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

1. Know you’re not alone

I work with many women like you. I know how you feel. Hey…I am one of these women. But, yes, there is a solution.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

2. Having many ideas is great

Having too many ideas – causing you to not finish anything – is not so great.

In fact you’re ‘not finishing your project’ is plain perfectionism. I know this might be something you don’t want to hear.

The constant shift to new, better, different projects without even finishing a small task, is your mind trying to escape from delivering something that might not be liked or applauded immediately.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

It’s the safety pin in your creative process. But you’ve taken it out so often it is broken beyond repair.

“Hold on…. it can grow back if you don’t touch it for a couple of months, but han you might not need it anymore.”

Shifting your attention. Making sure you don’t have to finish 1 project is a largely unconscious process. It has become your habit to the extent that you feel it’s something you have to deal with.

Check out your life. You’ve probably done it like forever.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

3. Ready for the shift? Here’s what you do

Stop doing what you’ve been trying up till now.

You can’t focus more, if you don’t know why you need to focus.

Also. Thinking it’s something you have to deal with is nonsens.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

All you have to do is go back to your WHY.

Get that crystal clear. Not just in your head.

Feel it. In your belly, your heart, your soul. Know it inside out.

If I wake you up in the middle of the night and ask:

Wake up gorgeous women! Why have you been working so hard? Why did you risk so much?”[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

You sit up straight and tell me your WHY.

Knowing your WHY gives you guidance and direction.

It aligns your soul with your purpose.[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

When you wander off for too long your WHY gently gets you back on track.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

4. Know WHO you’re doing it for

Know your tribe. Not just so you can target them in your marketing (well…. that also) but mostly because they have to be in your heart all the time.

Knowing your tribe. Knowing what they need is essential. Who will help your tribe if you are not prepared to finish your own project?

It’s your tribe. You’ve got to love them first. When they feel you get them, they will love you back.

Since we’re Creative Souls our WHY and our WHO change. We learn. we develop, we grow. Let the reason your business exist grow with you.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

5. Give yourself at least 1 hour (preferably more) each day without email/social media.

Change your Facebook Settings. Having a constant stream of images and posts from people who are doing the stuff you wish you were doing is not beneficial to your authentic voice.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

Get out of all the groups filled with people who share stuff like: “I’m so great I just earned 1 Billion dollar following these simple 3 step rules! Enroll in our Super Fab Free Webinar Now”…  or whatever blocks your Creative Flow. [dt_gap height=”20″ /]

There is a project in your belly. And it’s already beautiful enough to share with the world.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

Honor your Creative Soul.

Let me know if this helps!
